Paul Lam Shang Leen
(Legal Consultant)
Previously Judge of the Supreme Court of Mauritius for over 15 years; he has acted as Chairman of the Council of Legal Education; Chairman of the steering committee for the implementation of the e-judiciary for the electronic filing of cases and the management of court cases. He has occupied the functions of Presiding Judge of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court dealing with Corporate litigation, Insolvency and, bankruptcy; Arbitrator in construction disputes, Chairman of the Prisons’ Board, Chairman of the Probation Board, Chairman of the steering committee for the computerization of the Supreme Court for the setting up of video- link with the prisons.
Paul has presided over numerous criminal cases since 1976 to 1992. From 1984 to 2007, presided over serious criminal cases before the Assizes with Jury and without jury and sitting as judge of the Court of Criminal Appeal. In 2008, Presiding Judge of the Newly created Criminal Division of the Supreme Court dealing with numerous high profile criminal cases. He has contributed in the discussion papers at the annual workshop organised by the Law Faculty, Trinity College, Dublin in topics including Human Rights, Fair Hearing, Discrimination, Capital Punishment, Sentencing, Independence of the Judiciary, the ICCPR and the ICESCR.


Joyadeep Beeharry

Joy is qualified as a Barrister at Law and was called to the Bar in 1996, where he is involved in all spheres of law in the local context as well as the Global Business Sector. Joy studied at Royal College Curepipe and read for his LLB at the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
Joy’s professional practice is primarily geared towards insolvency, civil, corporate, and commercial aspects of the law both in the local and international context. He is also involved in disputes referred to arbitration. Joy has set up his own chambers comprising of several Barristers and Attorneys (Solicitors) as well as having the unique advantage of having an inhouse legal consultant, Mr. Paul Lam Shang Leen, former Senior Puisne Judge and Presiding Judge of the Bankruptcy/Commercial Division of the Supreme Court of Mauritius.
Joy has been the legal advisor to various parastatal bodies such as the Information and Communication Technologies Authority, Air Mauritius Ltd, Central Water Authority, Central Electricity Board, Beach Authority, Irrigation Authority, Sugar Planters Mechanical Pool Corporation, District Council of Moka, Municipal Council of Curepipe, District Council of Pamplemousses and Rivière du Rempart and the National Housing Development Corporation. Over the years, Joy has amassed an impressive portfolio of clients operating in the private sector in Mauritius (encompassing the hotel, retail, construction, insurance, banking, real estate industry) such as but not limited to ENL Property Ltd, HABIB Bank Ltd, GIBB (Mauritius) Ltd, SUN Resorts, EVACO Group of Companies, State Insurance Company of Mauritius (SICOM), SUN Insurance, Tempo Real Ltd, Rogers Co Ltd, Sotravic Co. Ltd, Blacksky Co. Ltd, Mon Ile Luxury Co Ltd, Thomas Cook (Mauritius) Ltd and McDonald Mauritius (Chicago Restaurants Ltd), Burger King restaurants amongst others.
In parallel to his private practice, Joy has also gathered considerable and unique experience as a candidate to the general elections, Chairman of Mauritius Duty Free Paradise and its HR Committee and Corporate Governance Committee, Part-Time Lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton (Mauritius Campus) and Member of the Board of Examination for the Bar Vocational Exams in Mauritius. He has recently chaired a Fact-Finding Committee instituted by the Mauritius Football Association.
Krishen Luximon

Krishen completed his LLB(Hons) at the University of Wolverhampton after which he did an LLM in International Trade from Wales University in 2006. After completion of his Bar Vocational Course at City University, he was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the honourable society of Middle Temple in 2007. He has worked in various legal firms in England, such as Hill Dickinson Law Firm. He was called to the Mauritian Bar in 2017 and has joined the Chambers in 2018.
He specialises in Criminal matters and is also engaged in Employment Litigation and Family matters.


Deepak Moutia

Deepak holds an LLB (Hons) from Anglia Ruskin University (UK) and an LLM in Banking and Finance from University College London (UCL). He completed his Bar Training Course at the University of Nottingham and was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honorable Society of the Inner Temple. In February 2025, he was also called to the Bar of Mauritius.
Deepak maintains a broad practice encompassing Civil, Commercial, Family, Immigration, and Criminal matters. He is also actively engaged in Disciplinary Committees and regularly appears before all levels of Courts and Tribunals in Mauritius.
